We are excited to announce:
MGENI - The Film
When is the last time you hosted?
Mgeni (The Guest) is a film that treats hospitality as a performance and the home as a stage for encounter. It reflects on the delicate balance between intimacy and distance, kinship and strangeness, when we open our doors to others. Inspired by anthropology, sociology, and performance studies, the work traces how gestures of welcome, sharing food, offering a seat, giving space become choreographies of care and negotiation. Mgeni is not only about the visitor but also about the host: how both are transformed in the fleeting moment of meeting, and how such encounters echo far beyond the walls in which they occur.
Guests are invited to an evening experience on 17th October, at The Living Rooms, Nagara, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, featuring a short film screening and a physical exhibition. Entry is KES 1,000; Get your ticket here.

We recently hosted The Mgeni Experience Embroidery Workshop as part of Mgeni Experience Week, and it was such a beautiful, reflective session. Using needle and thread, participants explored themes of identity, hospitality, and belonging—each stitch telling a personal story of arrival and connection.
We’re excited to share that the next embroidery workshop will take place in the first week of August—stay tuned for details!
