Face pieces

If you’ve been following our journey, you know our passion for unique face pieces. The “Mvinje Face Piece,” part of the Tree/Miti series, draws inspiration from the Mvinje/ Casuarina equisetifolia or Whistling Pine. Intricately mimicking the tree’s distinctive form, it encapsulates the essence of daily interactions, experiences, and the beauty of nature. This piece reflects TK’s design philosophy of transforming the ordinary into something extraordinary.

Inspired by the use of face masks. This piece was made as an artistic response to the societal use of face masks, as a result of COVID world wide. Kinga uso translates to face protector, as the piece can be seen as such.
Translates to small small circles in English. This piece is inspired by the 17th century ornamental headdress, namely ‘the fascinator.’ We created it to be worn on the front of the face, giving the eyes full coverage.
The name directly translates to ‘nose protector’ in English. This is the first piece that’s dedicated and insprired by the nose.
‘Darubini’ translates to binoculars in English. This piece gives the eyes full coverage, while still offering a chic look.
‘Uso mzunguko’ translates to spiral face in Swahili. The spiral on this piece is on the side making it the most prominent feature.
‘Uso Jicho’ directly translates to face eye in Swahili. We named it this way because the eye on the face, on this piece, is the most prominent feature.
‘Uso Nusu’ translates to half face in Swahili. We were trying to achieve half of a face silhouette when creating this piece.
‘Kinga Pua Maua’ translates to floral nose protector. This is a development of the original Kinga Pua.
